Morehead State University (MSU) is a public state university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top public universities in the South, MSU is located within the scenic Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. It is one of the state's six largest public universities and has over a century of history. Recognized as one of the 25 Best Colleges in the South by national publications, MSU boasts Kentucky's highest computer-to-student ratio in its computer labs. It is one of only five universities nationwide offering degrees in Space Science. MSU has established partnerships with Guangxi University, Tianjin Normal University, and Tianjin University of Finance and Economics in China.

MSU comprises 20 departments offering 78 undergraduate majors, including 12 pre-professional programs. MSU's annual operating budget is $122.5 million. External funding for research, service, and academic/student support averages $15 million annually. Private donations through the MSU Foundation average $3 million per year.

  • All new students must take the on-campus ACT test upon arrival for placement in English, Math, and Social Studies courses, unless they have existing ACT/SAT scores. The Admissions Office provides transcript verification services for Chinese applicants.

Transfer Students from U.S. Institutions must submit:

  2. Official transcripts from U.S. college(s)

Transfer of International Credits:

  • Credits earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated by World Education Services, Inc. (WES). Students are responsible for contacting WES (www.wes.org; P.O. Box 11623, Chicago, IL 60611-0623; midwest@wes.org) and paying all evaluation fees.

  • Transfer students with fewer than 24 college credits may be required to take the on-campus ACT test.
