Speaker's Profile

Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He graduated from Central South University in 2002 with a major in Materials Engineering and previously worked at the R&D Center of Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. His research focuses on abrasive modification, preparation and evaluation of hydrophilic fixed abrasive polishing pads, ultra-precision grinding and polishing mechanisms and processes for ceramics and artificial crystals, and surface engineering. He has led over 20 fund projects, including those supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Six Talent Peaks Fund, and prospective research funds for industry-university-research collaborative innovation. He has also overseen nearly 20 enterprise cooperation projects. Currently, he serves as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is a standing committee member of the Micro-Nano Manufacturing and Precision Engineering Committee and the Finishing Technology Committee of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, as well as a committee member of the Engineering Ceramics Committee and the Optical Technology Committee of the Ordnance Society. In 2014, he received the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, and in 2021, the Third Prize of Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He has published over 100 academic papers and been granted more than 20 invention patents, several of which have been applied in the polishing processing of artificial crystals, hard and brittle materials, and metal materials.

Abstract

This lecture will discuss the types and significance of innovation from the perspectives of innovation versus invention and breakthrough versus incremental innovation. It will focus on introducing innovative thinking models, elaborating on innovative working methods, and analyzing psychological barriers to innovation along with potential solutions.
