HUANGSHAN, China – October 28 marked the official inauguration of the Huizhou Stinky Mandarin Fish Industrial Research Institute, a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the Huangshan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Key partners include Huangshan University, the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai Ocean University.

The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of distinguished figures including Qi Rende, Vice President of the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Wu Chunpeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Huangshan Municipal Government; Wu Chengwu, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Huangshan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Director of the Municipal Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station; and Wan Zhibing, Vice Dean (presiding over administrative work) of the School of Life and Environmental Science at Huangshan University.

The new institute will focus on establishing standardization, scaling up production, and fostering high-quality development across the entire Stinky Mandarin Fish industry chain. Its core missions involve technological research, development, and the commercialization of成果 in critical areas such as germplasm resources, healthy aquaculture, advanced processing, and quality & safety control. The goal is to build a deeply integrated innovation platform connecting industry, academia, research, and application.

As a primary co-establishing unit, the School of Life and Environmental Science at Huangshan University will leverage its significant disciplinary strengths and research expertise in food science. The School is playing a deep role in the Institute's R&D center construction and project implementation, providing essential technical support and talent cultivation for the innovative growth of Huangshan's Stinky Mandarin Fish industry.

Demonstrating this commitment, Wu Yongxiang, head of the Green Food and Functional Biological Products Innovation Team at the School, signed a research project agreement with the Institute during the event. The project, Research and Demonstration of Standardized and Cleaner Production Technologies for Stinky Mandarin Fish Fermentation, has secured funding of RMB 950,000.

The establishment of the institute represents another significant achievement in collaborative governance and the integration of industry and education. The School of Life and Environmental Science plans to utilize this opportunity to further consolidate resources and build synergistic momentum, contributing sustained effort towards establishing a nationally recognized hub for the Stinky Mandarin Fish industry and supporting the high-quality development of Huangshan's premium green food sector.
